Theme Leader, e-Health
David Hansen is the Theme Leader for e-Health and a Principal Research Scientist at the Australian e-Health Research Centre. The e-Health theme aims to provide complementary research for ongoing e-health architecture development in Australia. This research is aimed in four broad areas: innovating on Australia's e-Health architecture; improved decision making in health service delivery; increased telehealth, especially using broadband technologies; and the improved treatment of chronic diseases. The theme aims to make a significant impact in the use of Information and Communication Technology in these areas.
Prior to becoming theme leader for e-Health David led the research and development of data technologies at the Australian E-Health Research Centre. David completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Queensland in Chemistry and Computer Science and a PhD (Theoretical Chemistry) at the Australian National University. From 1998 to 2004 David led the development of the Sequence Retrieval System (SRS) at LION Bioscience Ltd in Cambridge, UK. SRS is the leading genomic data and tool integration software, and is used by pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and research institutes world wide.
David is also the Scientific Program Chair for this years Health Information Conference, HIC 2010.
